About

Toyo Language School is located in the peaceful residential area of Nishi-Kasai in east Tokyo. This area is well suited for students who are looking for a quiet environment to study in, while still having easy access to the more central areas of Tokyo! Courses are available for all levels of Japanese student, but Toyo will most benefit those who are serious about taking their skills to the next level.

Toyo’s classes take a comprehensive approach to make sure that students are well balanced in speaking, writing, listening and reading. Not only are the courses themselves crafted to improve a student’s overall Japanese level, but the school also has their own unique “Japanese monitoring system” that helps you make sure that you achieve your language learning goals. When you get to the school, you will take a test that will check your Japanese skills in a variety of ways. Then, you set a goal for yourself and test yourself at the beginning of each semester. While studying abroad in Japan, it can be easy to get caught up in things other than studying, but with Toyo Language School’s amazing support, you will be able to get closer to achieving the level of Japanese you’ve always wanted to attain.

In addition to study support, the school also offers an amazing living support system for their students. Living in a foreign country can be exciting but also comes with its own fair share of trials and difficulties. Toyo Language School tries to make living abroad as comfortable as possible for their students by offering things like free medical and dental appointments at local clinics. If your Japanese is not yet at the level where you can make an appointment on your own, there is a Teams chat room where each student can ask their staff for help with setting up the appointments!

Testimonials

I went to Tokyo to speak with various schools, but my choice was easy after visiting Toyo. Everyone was so nice and when touring the school, everyone stopped to greet us. The buildings were nice and bright and the surrounding area was full of green spaces. After coming to Toyo and starting classes, that experience has only been reinforced. The classes are exciting and the teachers ensure we understand everything despite our varying Japanese levels. I chose to stay in one of Toyo’s dorms and it has allowed me to meet people outside of class and to create a network here. The dorms are located quite conveniently and I can buy everything I need near home. The school has given us easy access to support via Microsoft Teams and we can message the staff at any time. All in all, Toyo has done everything to give me the best chance of creating a fulfilling life here in Tokyo. Show More

I chose TLS because it offers courses at different levels, including completely beginner, and it is possible to start the course at different times of the year (I started in January). After graduating I want to study "game programming" in a professional school here in Japan, and eventually work in an independent game studio. I'm impressed by the quality and organization of the lessons here at TLS. Most of the teachers are very passionate and good at teaching in an entertaining way. Overall everyone seems to care a lot about the students' education and life in Japan. Also, I find the elective classes system very useful. It gives you the chance to choose in which area you may want to focus, or if you want to learn at a faster or lower pace. Show More

I chose this school because its innovative learning system aligns with my educational needs and learning style and I’m mostly excited about elective classes. Currently, I'm still enrolled in the short-term course, so I'm in the process of exploring my options and setting my goals. However Toyo's teaching approach has significantly deepened my interest in mastering the Japanese language and possibly pursue advanced levels in the future. I'm just starting my course, but I already like the school and the learning atmosphere. My advice to future students is to do some self-study before starting, especially since the classes are in Japanese. Show More

It was always one of my goals to study Japanese in Japan and GaijinPot helped me sort everything out as well as answer all of my questions in timely manner. The atmosphere here is great. The staff is always cheerful and happy to help. The classes are fun, inclusive and easy to follow. We also have elective classes so we can focus on parts of the language we’re interested most in such as conversation, Kanji or classes made for job hunting. Everything is well organized using Microsoft Teams so we don’t miss events, announcements or assignments. We are also all assigned a My Teacher to whom we can talk for guidance regarding our studies, life in japan or our goals for the future. Speaking of, my goal is to keep working hard on my Japanese and land a job here in Japan. Show More

I first came to Japan on a tourist visa for three months and studied at Toyo Language School as a short-term student. I loved it because all the teachers are professional, hospitable and helpful. Classes are not too hard and it’s easy to understand what you are learning. You can also choose an elective class, such as one for getting a job in Japan, which I am aiming for. This school is very international and the classes are full of multinational students. When I can't ask a question in Japanese well, even if I ask it in English, the teacher will answer it well. When I got back to the USA, I decided to apply for a long term visa with Toyo and right now, I'm working hard to study grammar, which I'm not so good at, so that I can get a job in Japan. Show More

GaijinPot listened to my interests and found the best option for me which was Toyo Language School.
The environment is very diverse and inclusive and focuses on many different types of learning such as speaking, reading and writing. All the teachers work hard to ensure that every student is participating and is involved. It's easy to make friends and we study together and we also go out and discover new experiences. Being part of a dorm is very convenient. You meet many fellow students from different parts of the world who are all doing the same thing. The building is very clean and modern. The building offers many amenities such as Wi/Fi and a laundry room, along with a dedicated support team. The dorms are often located near convenience stores and supermarkets as well as bus stops. Since I had these facilities and a great environment from the beginning, I was able to start my life in Japan without stress, and I was able to concentrate on my studies. Show More
