Studying in Japan
Can I Choose Between Morning and Afternoon Classes?
October 8, 2024  |  By Amélie Marie Nishizawa

While you may prefer to study in the morning or afternoon, schools cannot accommodate your preferences.

Unfortunately, you cannot choose your schedule.

Classes are level-based. You will receive your schedule after enrolling and taking the placement test, closer to the course start date. Class timing may change on a term basis and as you progress through the course levels.

Beginner students usually have afternoon classes to avoid rush hour commuting challenges and to help them adjust to Japan’s lifestyle. Intermediate to advanced students have priority for morning classes because they often need to attend preparatory courses for higher education in the afternoon or participate in job hunting-related seminars and activities.

Can I study for more than half a day?

You may be very motivated to study longer, but schools will not let you study in class for a full day for a good reason. While 3 hours a day may sound short, you should set time aside to review daily content and complete your homework.
